Requirements for Sustainable Forest Management in Temperate, Boreal and Plantation Forests (PEFC ST 1003:200x - Requirements for Sustainable Forest Management Standards - Part 1: Temperate, boreal and plantation forests)

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. With more than two-thirds of the world's certified forests managed in compliance with PEFC's Sustainability Benchmarks, PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system and the certification system of choice for small- and family forest owners.

This document forms the basis of all forest management standards for temperate, boreal and plantation forests and establishes the environmental, social, and economic requirements that forest management must comply with to ensure the sustainable use of forest resources.

This global public consultation is an essential element in the revision process. Comments and suggestions received form an important input into the process will be considered and discussed by the multi-stakeholder working groups comprising representatives from a broad range of sectors including forest owners, industry, customers, the scientific community, environmental groups and trade unions.
